The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will commence on 26th March 2022, with defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match of the tournament.

Here is the live feed of the IPL 2022 Schedule announcement: (Note: If the feed is not loading, click here to check the live feed of IPL 2022 Auction)

The 2022 edition of the IPL will be a 10-team contest, as two new outfits, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have joined the fray. KL Rahul will lead the Lucknow side, while the Gujarat Titans will have Hardik Pandya at the helm of affairs. A total of 74 matches will be played in the Indian T20 League this year.

The teams will be divided into two groups this time. Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants are placed in Group 1, while Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants are placed in Group 2.

Each team will face every other team in its group as well as one team from the other group twice. And, every team will play the other 4 teams in the other group once. All league matches will take place in Mumbai and Pune this year.

CPL 2021 Draft Live Updates on Players Signed, Retained & Released Players List & Full Squads of all Teams https://www.crictracker.com/cpl-2021-draft-live-updates-on-players-signed-retained-released-players-list-full-squads-of-all-teams/ Fri, 28 May 2021 10:22:05 +0000 https://www.crictracker.com/?p=519649 caribbean-premier-league-cupHere is the live feed of the CPL 2021 Draft: (Hold on for a few seconds until the blog loads)

Players’ draft timing– 9 AM ECT, 1 PM GMT, 6:30 PM IST.

“This is a six-hitting masterclass from TKR,” screamed Ian Bishop from the commentary box after Lendl Simmons muscled Scott Kuggeleijn for a humongous six over deep mid-wicket. It was St Lucia Zouks’ maiden stint in a Caribbean Premier League final, and Trinbago Knight Riders came back from behind and dashed their hopes at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

Back on September 2020, TKR won by eight wickets. Phew! More than eight and half months and it seems like yesterday when Darren Bravo inside-edged one off speedster Kesrick Williams and led the Knight Riders to glory. It remains a mystery as to how Kieron Pollard’s men won the trophy without losing a single match in the tournament.

The focus now shifts to the 2021 CPL and teams have already started their preparations after announcing their retentions, releases, trades and some fresh buys. The tournament starts on August 28 with all the 33 matches to take place in St Kitts and Nevis, the home of the Patriots, who finished at the bottom of the points table last season with one win from 10 matches.

With three months before action kicks off at the Warner Park, it’s time for the players’ draft on Friday, May 28, where the squads will be revealed. Fasten your seat belts as it’s gonna be a exciting journey as we take you through the squads of the six participating teams in the championship.

IND vs ENG Head to Head

Played – 17 | India – 8 | England – 9

In a see-saw battle between the number one and number two ranked sides, England won the third game by eight wickets after India had managed to bring the series to parity in the second T20I. At the toss, the visiting skipper, Eoin Morgan, called correctly as England put in India. Some seething pace and control from Mark Wood and Jofra Archer reduced India to 24/3 inside the Powerplay, with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul back inside the pavilion alongside Ishan Kishan.

A 38-run stand for the fourth wicket between Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli ensured that the tumbling halted, although a greedy attempt off a misfielding proved costly to India as Pant failed to make his ground and was dismissed run-out for a 20-ball 25. While India’s struggle for momentum continued, Virat Kohli (77* from 46), who notched up his second half-century of the series, ensured to secure his wicket to accelerate later. And he did, alongside Hardik Pandya (17 from 15), adding 70 runs from just 35 to take India to a respectable total of 156/6.

Out to chase a tricky target, England failed to get a move on courtesy of some disciplined bowling by Indian pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur. Although, Jos Buttler launched an assault against the bowlers during his 58-run stand with Dawid Malan for the second wicket after Yuzvendra Chahal removed Jason Roy cheaply.

Buttler slammed five boundaries and four sixes in his unbeaten 83 from 52 as India’s search for a wicket continued till the 10th over. Dawid Malan was stumped while trying to step out against Washington Sundar with 76 runs still needed for England to reach the target, however, Jonny Bairstow joined Buttler and the visitors finished the chase with 10 balls to spare to take a 2-1 lead.

After a fascinating Test series, India is all in readiness to take on England, the number one T20I side, in a five-match T20I series that gets underway on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.  While England started the tour with an emphatic victory at Chennai, too little went their way later and they subsequently lost the chance to make it into the World Test Championship Final.

With the Test series gone to the home side, the current series is not only a chance for England to get back to winning ways but the series is even otherwise significant when seen in the context of the approaching T20I World Cup. Including the upcoming five fixtures, England has 13 games before they step out in the World Cup in October. However, they will not have an opportunity bigger and better than this series and the approaching season of the IPL to acclimatize themselves with conditions they will face come to the T20 World Cup.

For India, who have no more international 20-over fixtures before the World Cup after these five games, the current series is the moment to sort their problem of plenty. From identifying an apt opening combination to the most suitable number four and the correct pace attack, there are quite a few questions that India would prefer to have the answers to.

After all, not often in the recent past has India had all four in Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli available. While skipper Kohli confirmed on the eve of the game that Rohit and Rahul continue to be India’s first-choice openers, the selection headache at number four – where India has as many options as Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan – continues.

Squads:

India Squad: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli(c), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini, Axar Patel, Shikhar Dhawan, Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer, Rahul Tewatia, T Natarajan, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Chahar

England Squad: Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan(c), Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Sam Billings, Reece Topley, Mark Wood, Tom Curran, Liam Livingstone.

Here is the live feed for the 5th fixture of the PSL 2021, Peshawar Zalmi vs Multan Sultans (Hold on for a moment until the blog loads)

Match Timings: 23 February 2021, 07:30 PM IST

Venue: National Stadium, Karachi

Peshawar Zalmi is entering the contest after a 4-wicket loss at the hands of Lahore Qalandars in their opening fixture of the PSL 2021. After being put in to bat, the Zalmi could manage only manage a below-par total of 140 and their bowlers failed to restrict the Qalandars, who chased the target with 9 balls to spare.

Barring Ravi Bopara, who scored a 44-ball 50, and Saqib Mehmood and Wahab Riaz, who both returned with two wickets apiece, there were no real positives for Riaz’s men. Placed at the second-last spot on the table, Zalmi will be keen to open their account tonight after a rusty display in their first game.

The 4th-placed Multan Sultans, on the other hand, are on a similar plane, coming on the back of a three-wicket defeat against Islamabad United. Plagued by a continuous fall of wickets, the Sultans were taken to a competitive total of 150/8 courtesy of Mohammad Rizwan, who continued his sensational form and accounted for nearly half of his team’s total.

Sultans’ bowlers pushed United into trouble big time, reducing them to 74/6 at one stage, although a sensational fightback from Lewis Gregory, who was well-assisted by Faheem Ashraf snatched every chance of a victory from them.

Here is the live feed of the PSL 2021 Lahore vs Quetta: (Hold on for a few seconds until the blog loads)

Venue : National Stadium, Karachi

After making a contrasting start to their campaigns in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021, Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators will be up against each other in the fourth game of the tournament on Monday (February 22). The Gladiators started their campaign with a crushing seven-wicket loss to defending champions Karachi Kings in the first game of PSL.

The Gladiators were thoroughly outplayed by Karachi as they failed to do well with both bat and ball. Asked to bat first, the Gladiators were all out for a paltry 121 in 18.2 overs. Except for Chris Gayle, no other batsmen managed to contribute anything substantial with the bat. In reply, Karachi chased down the total in less than 14 overs by losing just three wickets.

The Qalandars, on the other hand, started their campaign with a hard-fought 4-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi. Riding on their pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi’s stunning spell of 3 for 14, Qalandars restricted Zalmi to a modest 140 for 6. With the bat, the Qalandars looked shaky and were reeling at 109 for 6 at one stage.

Their openers Fakhar Zaman and Sohail Akhtar as well as middle-order batsmen Agha Salman and Ben Dunk got the starts but failed to capitalize. But fortunately for them, Mohammad Hafeez (33*) and Rashid Khan (27*) took them over the line in the 19th over in the low-scoring encounter.

KKR vs MI Latest Match updates

Kolkata Knight Riders will start off their Dream11 IPL2020 campaign with the clash against defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. After losing the first match against Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai will look to come back to wining ways.

KKR vs MI: Previous Head to Head clashes

Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians have played 25 matches in the history of the Indian Premier League. However, the Mumbai Indians have the upper hand by winning a majority of 19 games out of those 25. A sign of relief for KKR is that out of those only 6 recorded wins, KKR won the only head to head fixture with MI in the UAE. Coincidentally, they are about to start off their IPL on the same venue.

Impact of Bumrah and Boult on KKR

Having just one World-class bowler is a blessing for many franchises. But MI have had the opportunity to play not only one but two great bowlers. Bumrah and Boult are two successful international bowlers. And their impact on the KKR side today is definitely a concern.

Can Rohit Sharma get the better of Sunil Narine?

Rohit Sharma is one of India’s elite batsmen. He can single-handedly win games for MI, like he has over the years. However, the contest between Rohit Sharma and KKR’s magical bowler Sunil Narine is to watch out for. Will Narine stop Rohit Sharma and his men from dominating the match is what we have to forward to.

The player auction for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will start at 3:30 PM IST on 19th December in Kolkata. A total of 997 players registered to go under the hammer but only 338 players were shortlisted by the 8 franchises. As many as 190 players from India are present in the final list which includes 15 capped players. Robin Uthappa’s base price of 1.5 crore INR is the highest among the Indian players.

Jaydev Unadkat, Yusuf Pathan and Piyush Chawla are the other Indians to have set their base price over 1 crore INR. The auction has a total of 148 overseas names including three from the associate nations. Scotland’s George Munsey, UAE’s Zahoor Khan and USA’s Ali Khan are the three associate players shortlisted for the auction. On 19th December, only a maximum of 73 players will get a chance to bag an IPL contract.

The 8 franchises collectively have only 29 overseas spots to fill. The Royal Challengers Bangalore will have a chance of buying as many as six foreigners this time having retained only two overseas players. In fact, they could be the most active team at this IPL auction as they retained the least number of players (12) among the 8 sides. The Delhi Capitals are close to RCB in terms of available slots.

The Delhi franchise has retained only 14 players which includes only three overseas names. The Kings XI Punjab have got the highest purse of all the teams as they have 42.07 crore INR to purchase a maximum of nine players including a maximum of four foreigners. The defending champions Mumbai Indians have only 13.05 crore INR for filling 7 players including two overseas slots.
